Artist statement

The artist is tasked, I believe, with portraying what they see. I explore themes of status, consumption and class through in-situ depictions of decadence and luxury.

My work interprets this injunction as showing how we, often unknowingly, relate to society through our behavior in situations centered on status, consumption and hierarchy.

My work is figurative in as much as it represent people but expressionistic in execution. Rich, vibrant colours and striking textures indicate decadence while the compositions allude to social hierarchies.
